Mere Image Drama Ministry exists to reflect God’s truths through the dramatic and performing arts. Jesus used parables to teach the people God’s truths through stories and illustrations, without directly “telling” them the truth. Jesus who created us knows that Truth can often mean more to us when we have to figure it out for ourselves. Drama connects the words of God with our everyday lives, “warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28 ESV).
Mere Image seeks to perform God’s Truth on stage through stories and dramatic imagery and presentations. These presentations may include but are not limited to live stage performances, video productions, scripture reading and recitation and pictorial presentations set to music or narration. In addition, drama ministries helps coordinate members of the congregation sharing their “faith stories” either through a video or live during the service. Mere Image is also outreach-oriented. We seek opportunities to use drama as a tool to bring people into the Kingdom. We do performances in the community and welcome actors from the community to participate in our performances. Formal training is not required. Positions are available for actors, actresses, script writers, and behind the scenes support.
